Well, my sweet friend Ashly came to me and asked me to photograph Zach, her younger brother, for his senior photos. But, let me back up a bit and explain the amazing day we all had.

Ashly, Jena (another dear friend), and I all decided to take a step and publicly affirm our faith in Christ, and be baptized. So yesterday, our closest friends and family all came to share our joy-filled, emotional experience, and hear us share our stories of how God has personally guided and shaped us to this point in our lives. Ashly spoke of her brother in her testimony, "I see God the most in my brother--he is a miracle." It was such a moving moment. Her brother's face was lit up the entire morning. You could see so much joy in him. His smile and laughter are so contagious! I so enjoyed getting to meet and photograph him. Here are a few faves from the day. :o)

one of the reasons i absolutely love photographing weddings is the fact that every single wedding has its own wonderful uniqueness. this wedding was a first for me...a double wedding! two sisters, lory and lynsey decided to share their wedding day...and it was such a neat experience too! they had a lovely fall wedding with suprisingly super warm weather...in the 90s! you guys were so sweet and so great to work with!! :o) here are some faves from the day!

Wow, it was one of those weddings where i don't even know where to begin! sam and chris had such a gorgeous, elegant wedding. everything...i mean everything was perfectly planned and well thought out. they were married in the most gorgeous church in indy...(in my opinion :o) 2nd presbyterian off of meridian street. their reception followed at the lovely woodstock country club. i can't say enough about this amazing couple and their wedding! sam and chris, you have my best! have a great time in italy!!

Well this was a fun change of pace for me. I photographed the iu mini marathon this past weekend down in bloomington, indiana. the weather called for tons of rain and storms, so i was prepared for the worst haha. luckily, the rain held out and we just had to deal with a very muggy morning. well anyways, besides the weather issues it was a really fun event. i even got to catch a few of my good friends cross the finish line. i also got to see some odd marathon behavior... like one guy ran the whole thing in a beer bottle costume...and another in a banana. and one guy ran the whole thing barefoot! craziness...well anyways, here's a few shots from the race....congrats everyone who ran it! thats a great accomplishment! :o)

another beautiful wedding! i photographed this one with the talented geno malusek. we had a great time at allison and austin's wedding. they had such a glamorous and elegant celebration of their love. every single detail was completely thought out and perfectly executed. and the fireworks at the end of the reception rocked! i had a great time and i hope the best for this lovely couple! :o)

wow, what a beautiful wedding! amanda and brett really went all out for their wedding. the ceremony and reception were held at the gorgeous columbia club in downtown indianapolis on monument circle. its such a glamorous place to get married with a great view! amanda and brett are such a perfect match for eachother. just watching them together assures you that they are the real thing. true love. i had a wonderful time at their wedding and i think there are some great images from the event. you two are wonderful and i give you my best :o)

well, i got a new toy yesterday...a super fun macro lens :o) this thing is amazing! so i took him for a test drive today at the lovely garfield park conservatory and sunken garden. this place is beautiful..and a great place to get married by the way! my brother had his wedding there this past june! but anyways, the conservatory is breathtaking. they have a HUGE variety of orchids... and if you know me well, you'll already know that i'm obsessed with orchids! :o) they are my absolute favorite flower...i can never keep the things alive...but otherwise i'd have tons of them.

well i learned a few things on my little photo shoot today. first, macros are almost impossible to use in full manual mode, haha. second, don't visit an extremely humid and hot conservatory when its 95+ degrees outside...unless you don't mind sweat pouring off you haha...and finally, and most importantly, i was reminded that we serve a most brilliant God, who has created such incredible, breathtaking beauty...simply for our enjoyment!! i will never understand how someone can deny a creator after seeing this beautifully intricate nature all around us.

well anyways, i hope you enjoy these images :o)

i have no idea what this plant is called...but it retracts its leaves when you touch it!

well, sometimes i just love to get out of the city.
don't get me wrong, i absolutely love indy. and i love big cities. i love the fast paced, excitement of it all. but sometimes it's just great to get away from it all too. so every now and then i pick a road at random, and just drive until i'm the only car on the road and i'm in the middle of nowhere. i never have a route or a map...i just go...and sometimes get severely lost haha. but anyways, it's always a liberating and rejuvenating experience. here are some fun, vintage images from my latest excursion... click on them to see them larger... they're much better bigger :o) i hope you enjoy them as much as i do :o)

jenni and matt had such a great wedding. they decided to stick with tradition and wait to see each other until the ceremony, which i think is the best way to do it. it may cause some delays in group pictures, but it's a truly amazing moment, and hey its your wedding day... do it the way you want. they had their ceremony and reception at the ritz charles in carmel, which is a great place to get married. the staff is wonderful and everything you could need is right there in one location. well anways, here are my favorite images from the day. hope you enjoy! jenni and matt, you two were wonderful to work with...enjoy your new life together :o)

congrats julia and ben! i met these two back in march when I photographed a conference in LA. They are a great couple who know how to goof off and have a good time together. I photographed their wedding with lukas and matt, and lets just say, julia and ben had plenty of photographic coverage for their wedding haha. they had a laid back, garden themed wedding with live butterflies in jars as their center pieces, and they served dirt pudding out of large terra cotta pots! it was a great wedding and i wish the best for them :o)

well, this wedding was such a blast! patty and brendan really knew how to have fun together...and i think it really shows from their photos! what i loved the most about these two would be how comfortable they are around eachother! they goofed off and had a great time the whole day. i really hope that my wedding day will be as joyful as theirs was! i photographed their wedding alongside the talented, LA based photographer, Matt Floreen. well my little trip to california is almost over... :o( i've had the best time out here...plenty of sunshine...great friends...gorgeous beaches...celeb spottings...and weddings! what a great combo eh?! i've made so many memories in just a week that i never want to forget. of course, i took plenty of pictures to document my little 'business trip' out here... so i will share a few with you! i'll have the wedding photos blogged within the week...so stay tuned! there are some really good ones i think! ahhh california is just wonderful :o)

we had a great senior shoot with haley this evening! i've been so busy in the wedding scene that i almost forgot how much fun senior shoots are! we went all over downtown indianapolis. i tried out some new spots and i'm loving the results of tryin new things. haley was a trooper and was so great to work with. i barely had enough time to get these posted before i head to LA to shoot a couple weddings and a model portfolio... i leave in just a couple hours!! eeee...so excited!!

these two are just adorable together! it was such a fun wedding with absolutely PERFECT weather! beautiful blue sky, about 78 degrees, and LOW HUMIDITY...which is HUGE for mid july in indiana!! they had a huge (and gorgeous) bridal party. most of lindsey and chris' bridal party were friends from their sorority and fraternity days at IU, where they happened to meet. they both had a huge group of friends and family who clearly love and support them very much. i had a great time at this wedding...here are some of my favorite images from the day :o)

Now, i absolutely LOVE music, and i have just a handful of female artists that i like...and this girl is one of my faves. Colbie Caillat is an adorable singer/songwriter whose album just released TODAY. I just bought the album on itunes and can confidently say that it is wonderful!! She's gonna be big! My wonderful friend Lacey introduced me to her a while back and i've been hooked ever since! Here's a video of my favorite song (which sadly didn't make it onto the CD...who the heck knows why!?) It's called "Droplets" and she's singing along side Jason Reeves, who is pretty awesome too (and man can those two harmonize!!)

music city + race cars = a good time

So, this weekend I got to photograph another IRL race with the AJ Foyt Racing team. This one was held at the Nashville Superspeedway. I suppose I should have started out photographing a smaller race, because my first one...the Indy500, is the biggest race for the Indy cars, and I think I was a bit spoiled when it came to this Nashville race. Nonetheless, this race was stinkin fun.

It was originally supposed to be a Saturday night race. The weather was perfect leading up to race time...super hot and sunny. Then as the cars are getting lined up and drivers announced, these dark ominous clouds started rolling in and it just starts to pour down. And it just rained and rained. The few people watching from the pit crews, myself included, were completely defenseless against the rain. So we just stood there huddled to the side of Danica Patrick's tent...she actually talked to us a bit! Someone brought us a big tarp, so we just stood there with a tarp on our heads...we were SOAKED! I still thought it was so much fun... except for the down pour on all my photo equipment! (but it all survived, thankfully!

The race was rescheduled for Sunday afternoon...so all the fans left and all the cars were dried off and tucked away. The weather held out Sunday, with the exception of a handful of rain drops that caused a few 'caution' laps for the drivers. All in all, it was such a fun weekend. Can't wait to do it all over again! :o)

That girl gets soo much attention. Photogs were constantly following her! (Ashley Judd is lookin cute *of course* in the yellow dress & hat in the middle image)i was riding around the garages on the team's "pee-wee" bike, waiting for the race to start :o)

So, we had our monthly pug meeting *pictage user group* this past thursday and it was such a blast! we all got together and talked a mile a minute about anything and everything photo...and then we all went out and did a fun photo shoot using each other as models. So, I finally got to go home to Evansville this past week to visit family and friends. I hadn't been back since CHRISTMAS! So the trip was well overdue! I had such a great time! It's great to get away from the city and get out in the country...and RELAX! :o) My parents have the most relaxing house and its beautiful in the summertime! I got to spend TONS of time with my sweet friend, Lacey, and that made me super happy! I would have a ton more photos posted, but silly me, I forgot ALL of my cf cards up in Indy! However, we finally broke down and bought a new one so we could photograph Carrie's adorable baby, Waylon :o)

So, I recently had the opportunity to photograph some of the Indy 500 qualifications, and let me tell you...the whole race thing is pretty cool. A few buddies from the AJ Foyt Race team hooked me and my good friend, Jena, up with some super VIP passes for the day (haha Jena...) We had a blast! Here are some of my fave shots from the day... On a side note, I just love how photography can take you anywhere from photographing concerts and weddings, to triathlons and racing events! I love the versatility of it...I love, love, love photography! :o)

road trip no. 1!

So, as we all know, summer is basically meant for road trips with your best friends.....so this past week me and two of my closest girlfriends took a little road trip up to the amazing city of Chicago! And might I suggest, if you live in the Indianapolis area...DRIVE to Chicago! Don't take a train! It takes forever!! I'd say we spent half of our time on trains getting around town! BUT anyways, once we FINALLY reached Chicago we met up with another friend and settled into our hotel...the amazing Wyndham, right on the Magnificent Mile! Now the real reason we made the trip north was to see a favorite band of ours...Hillsong United. This group is an absolutely amazing Christian worship group out of Sydney, Australia. Their music is powerful and moving...and we rocked out all night! They tour the entire world, and typically make it to just a couple cities in the United States...and when I saw they were making it to Chicago, there was no question...I was going to this concert :o) So anyways, I thought I'd add some of my favorite photos from the trip. We spent plenty of hours on trains...so I'm happy I had my camera with me to capture some great memories!! All in all, it was a stressful roadtrip..but I still love Chicago..But, I'm very happy to be back in my city, Indianapolis. :o)

Hillsong!!!so to preface these photos...our concert was located an hour out of downtown, so we took a train out and managed to miss our train back. so after a $100 cab ride we finally made it back around 2 am. my big brother is married!!

So my big brother, Josh got married today! He and Rachel enjoyed a wonderful, laid-back ceremony at Garfield Park in Indianapolis. The weather was beautiful...a very warm day, with a perfect blue sky and a few puffy clouds. Our closest friends and family beat the heat with plenty of iced tea and yummy wedding cake. After their wedding the two will be heading to Austin, Texas where Josh will be starting an awesome new job. Josh, I'm so happy for you brother, and I hope and pray for God's best for you and Rachel! Yet another BEAUTIFUL wedding! Nikki and Brian were blessed with the most gorgeous weather for their special day! Small and intimate -- it was a perfect laid back summer wedding set in a lovely garden in Avon. You can definitely see by the photos, how much these two adore each other!

WELL....where to start. I was privileged to photograph one of the most beautiful weddings I've ever experienced. From the trolley rides all over downtown with the bridal party, to the gorgeous ceremony, hilarious reception, and awesome band... it was just amazing.
